My Supports

Support from others encourages us and motivates us to push ourselves in achieving goals that we have always wanted to accomplish. When I think about support, I consider it as having someone who or something that stands beside me to walk with me through my journey. Support is having a strong foundation to stand behind us as guidance and to provide a sense of direction. I am blessed to have family who supports me in my time of growth and in my time of need.

I start my day off by thanking God for allowing me to see yet another day. I find support in God because he gives me the strength to conquer daily challenges and to use those difficulties as a foot stool to stand above. If there is ever a time that I feel helpless, I know that I can look to the hills and know that I am not weak because my help comes from the Lord. To see the love and happiness in my son eyes each day reminds me that not only am I supporting him; however, he supports me in many ways than one.  He encourages me to be better and to do better. His smile is a way that I feel as though he is telling me “job well done.”

My family is very supportive and it is a great benefit to have those who love you, believing in you every step of the way.  It will be difficult not to have the support of my family. Just as the saying goes “birds flock together;” therefore, support is the foundation for a strong platform.

One challenge I would have is losing my health and strength. I am a person who gets the job done and knowing how to take initiative in the things that I do, and losing my physical ability will be difficult to adjust to. At times I have witnessed that some things do not get done unless I do those things myself, and even though I am thankful for the support system that I have; not being able to do for myself in many ways than one will be difficult to cope with.

  1. Your opening statement is very powerful. Support definitely encourages and motivates us to push ourselves and to push others. Our goals in life would not be achieved if we did not receive any type of support be it emotional, physical, or practice.

    1. Support is hard to find at times because a lot of people are really against you, than they are for you; however, I am grateful for those who want to see me excel. As you stated support comes in more forms than just one. Our situations makes us strong, but our support systems makes us even stronger to accomplish things in our lives.

  2. Sha-Kevia,

Definitely, God is also a support to me. I don't go to church much , but I can feel him everyday in my life when I see my family and friends. I personally like praying in my house and that is a support that helps me everyday in my life.

    1. God will place people in our lives to do his work and the support that we receive truly comes from his love. I also like going into my "secret closet" at home to pray.

    1. thank you so much, I have realized that motivation will lead me and dedicated will get me to where I am trying to go in my life. I really enjoyed this assignment because it allowed myself to look back at the reason why I am pushing hard, and my support system has helped formed me to be who I am.

  4. This post was very powerful to me because it reminded me of how important is GOD in our lives. We are sometimes so busy that we forget to thank God for the wonderful people He put in our sides to continue in our journey. My family is also a great support to me, without them I think I would be lost. Also, you brought a point about how important is to have a good health, and take care of your body, both internally and externally. I enjoyed reading your post, and I congratulate you for all the support you have, it is so great that we never alone. God is always with us! thank you again for this reminder!

    1. It is great to have family who are supportive, because they are the closest human beings that have been placed in our lives. Thank you for reading my post and for the comment. We are at times "too busy" to stop and apprciate the reason why we are able to stand each day....great point.

    1. I have seen so many people, just this year, who has either became ill or has lost their life. Even though health is something that will eventually fail us all, I only hope that I have more years to come, so that I can take care of things and those in my world. Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

I too have a strong family support system and an even stronger support in my church family and the Lord above. To have a relationship that is personal and ongoing with God, is such a blessing. Thank you for revealing your spiritual side and reminding me that He is my biggest supporter.
